Cloyne 5k:
The annual Cloyne 5k was a welcome addition back on the circuit last Friday night. With a slightly amended start and finish line it was all held on the Cloyne Commons circuit traditionally used for the 4k winter series. With cross country just around the corner we still had good representation with Tim "Kipchoge" O'Donoghue dominating the field to win in 14.43. Brother Nick got his second sub 16 clocking in as many weeks with a 15.55 for 6th overall. Stephen O'Brien making a return to racing was 17th in 17.13 with rival Donal Giltinan just pipped to the post in 20th with 17.16 (with neither wearing supershoes). Eric Meade was next home in 18.52 with Jen Preston our sole female runner coming 13th in 19.41 after a long season of racing. Liam Leahy was chasing Jen down in the home straight with a 19.42. Denis was 114th in 23.33. Well done all for racing and also to everyone from the club that helped out on the day with all the unseen work to ensure the race ran smoothly. Upcoming Races: - East Cork Senior XC: Sunday Sep 19th - Venue TBC later this week - County Senior XC: Sunday October 3rd - Riverstick
