The Ballintotis 4 mile was held last night in a stunning evening of weather and racing. Michael and Fiona made it an East Cork double by winning the mens and womens titles. Michael running a course record 19.15 and taking a big scalp in beating the Ballycotton 10 multiple time champion Sergio Ciobanu and 8 time in a row Ballintotis winner James McCarthy. Fiona was the first East Cork woman to ever win the race despite being denied the glory of breaking the finishing linetape. She ran a storming 23.42.
We had 10 runners in total with James 3rd in 20.08, Kevin O'Brien 6th in 20.31 (PB), Kevin O'Leary of 20.52 (PB) in 11th, Conor Tierney 43rd in 24.34, Eadaoin O'Neill 4th lady home in 26.41, Denis McCarthy 104th in 26.41 also, Phil McGrath 27.40 and John Walshe 365th in 32.26. The race ran like clockwork. Parking was a breeze, there was plenty of volunteers helping people out, results were up quick, food was plentiful, prize giving was well done with the stage and it was complete on time which is excellent for people travelling a distance home and it was good to see all the prize winners staying to accept their prize. Everyone involved in the organising of the race should be proud, your efforts are much appreciated.

Appreciate you reading and sharing your story since I can certainly relate and I think others can to
