East Cork AC hosted an annual 3k road race series in Midleton since the late 1998 - 2009. The series consisted of a 7 race winter series held between October and February each year. A commemorative t-shirt was presented to all those who complete 5 or the 7 races. These are now officially collectors memorabilia. From humble beginnings the number of runners participating each year continued to grow with an average of 44 runners competing the 1998/1999 to an average of 126 competing in 2008/2009. A sign of the competitiveness of the series is that year on year the winning times have continued to decrease with an average winning time of 9:57min in 1998/1999 compared with an average of 9:10 in 2008/2009.
The course record was set during the 2006/2007 series by Alan O'Shea (Bantry AC) who won Race #4 in a time of 8:55mins. James McCarthy (East Cork AC) holds the record for the most victories (20No.) since series commenced and Eric Meade (East Cork AC) holds the record for the most victories in a single series - winning all races during 2000/2001 series.
